Greetings guys.. Hope y'all having a great day. Today I want to begin a series on the problems facing Africa as a continent.. Africa is a continent blessed with diverse resources, great minds and outstanding professionals who are leading the world in their various fields.. But amist these great talents and resources there are various issues that are left unattended to by our government and those in the helm of affairs in africa and these issues if properly manage have the potentials of reviving the economy of Africa. Today I would be discussing on power which plays a vital role in the industrialization of countries and continents like Europe. How then can power help to grow africa's economy.

THE EFFECT OF POWER IN THE WESTERN WORLD

The large scale generation and control of energy is responsible for the industrial revolution in europe in the 18th century seeing major countries and cities in Europe got industrialized and turned into mega cities.

The general impart of the industrial revolution, which can still be seen today , is that it has given Europe, USA and other western world a lead in the various spheres of human activities. The revolution had impart both economically and socially. Economic impart include the growth of industrial and other commercial activities including manufacturing, world trade and banking.

LIGHT UP AFRICA

Africa on the other hand is currently doing next to nothing in terms of power generation.. Despite the huge deposits of coal in some countries and the sea around us. Power generation seems to be of less important to the governments of Africa. They care less about the well being of its citizens , each political party is all out to win all seats in the next election . manifestos are just a written memo for campaigns alone and to deceive the people and get into office. Corruption has eaten deep into every soul in the political class as looting is now considered as a way of life. Oh Lord save my dear Africa!!!..

I want to use these medium to commend some efforts towards ensuring power in Africa.. One of which is the light up Africa project by a renowned music Star Akon. This project has helped many villages and towns in Africa with power supply and its indeed touching lives as small businesses depend on steady power supply for rapid growth. I commend his efforts and this is due to the facts that the governments in Africa have failed us woefully.

** NIGERIA AND THE PROBLEM OF POWER GENERATION**

Nigeria for example has huge deposits of coal, flaring gases daily, 5th largest producer of petroleum and surrounded by the sea yet can't boost of uninterrupted power supply for 24 hours. Its indeed heart touching and its time we wake up and ask specific questions on which way forward especially before the upcoming elections .. Large scale generation and control of Power should be the first and foremost agenda of any government taking over Nigeria for the next couple of years.. As we are called the giants of Africa, this should be represented by taking lead in lighting up Africa..

CONCLUTION

I hope this serve as a wake up call to the ruling class when it gets to them and also as an eye opener to citizens of Africa and Nigeria in particular as we prepare for the upcoming general elections in 2019. Thanks so much guys for your time guys.

Africans for ages till now has suffered a lot. Many historians believe civilization started here in Africa but why cant we developed as a nation.
Sometimes you ask yourself is it a curse? Or what...but you realize the answer is Us. Our leaders are not ready for change. You ask yourself do we have a long term policies to guide our development agenda?....we dont have any plan as a continent. We only walk in the shoes of the western people. We are not even trying to rule on our own. This is what i called it slavery in disguise.....am glad you have realize it but will plead we shun the talk and walk the talk.
Thank you.

Thats the fact bro.. Its time we unite and take action. For us in nigeria it begins with the next election.

Together we change the world

This is the painful truth. Even the youths want to embark on political paths so they can taste the funds from corruption and be wealthy. Funny how the Nigerian dream is now to leave Nigeria.

Well said bro.. But we must change the mentality of living and stand united to be the change we want to see.. Time to act is now!!!

Together we change the world
