Do you think the left is losing its hold in these countries and that is where the violence is coming from?
It is hard to say. I think the first thing that someone outside of Latin American culture should know is that our culture is very enthusiastic about leftist ideas, social justice and all those emptinesses. Of course, for these people the enemies are the United States and Europe.
Communism and the whole left are ideologies that are opposed to Western culture. That is why a leftist prefers Islam and one other Asian religion like Buddhism. Of course, for communists it is necessary to weaken the West through cultural hegemony.
Returning to Latin America, many people ignore that the real hegemony is not exercised by the USA but by Cuba. Many people detest the free market. Of course, they are just the typical idiots who sing "neoliberalism" even to the most socialist measures. That is ignorance. The left in Latin America really does not start with Marx or with Castro, but with the Jesuits a few centuries ago, specifically in Paraguay. However, this is something I would prefer to delve into in another article. In that article I will also talk about why the current Pope supports dictatorships in the continent.
Currently, leftist movements in Latin America have been deeply weakened for different reasons. In Brazil, for the corruption of the socialist governments of Lula da Silva and his predecessor Dilma Ruseff. In Argentina, the same thing happened with the presidential family, and like Lula, Cristina would end up in prison for corruption offenses. A similar case in Ecuador. Venezuela, as it was in a richer country, and where the socialist enthusiasm surpassed any intention to eliminate the regime, there has been no justice. And there can not be because 1) The law depends on the dictatorship, there is no law that is about the dictatorship. 2) The political opposition was created by Chavez. 3) There is a small number of people who work in public institutions, including prosecutors, judges and even secretaries who can not allow the dictatorship to fall. Although it is true that in Brazil, Argentina and Ecuador there have been changes, that was because they could not contaminate institutions with corruption as in the case of my country.
And while it is true that now in Argentina there is a right-wing government, Mauricio Macri received a country that had too much damage and social frustrations to carry and to repair. It is not an easy task. The common people hate to work. They believe that any entrepreneur is exploiting them. In Venezuela there is a deep contempt on the part of a sector not very small of the population towards the private company, because, the dictatorship affirms every day that the hunger is due to the fact that these companies hide the food. But it is not true. Private companies can not invest nor can they buy raw materials because all of this is being regulated and controlled by the dictatorship. In Venezuela, nothing is produced of the food that is eaten. We depend on food of dubious quality imported from several countries, and that when imported are more expensive. There have been opportunities in which the salary of one month has been equal to 1 dollar. Currently it corresponds to less than 30. But in January, the devaluation will do its thing again. Many Venezuelans, including myself, prefer to be invaded by the USA in a military operation to stay here. Even if that meant receiving bombings. We are all aware that our destiny within Venezuela is to die.
The socialist governments throughout the southern region of America have lost control and legitimacy because they have shown that socialism is only corruption, and in some cases: socialism is synonymous with drug trafficking. Who can want this for their country? In addition, all the neighboring countries of Venezuela do not want to be like us. Many Venezuelan citizens abroad are in charge of giving a lecture on why the left is a murderous ideology. If they say that in Venezuela people are dying of hunger, it is true. If you see in the news that millions of people have escaped from the country, it is true. Venezuela is hell. I just want you to know this.
If dictatorships like Maduro's and Ortega's answer by the bullets, is because they can't lose the power. They are even worse that the right-wing dictatorship from the past like Pinochet (Chile) or Pérez Jiménez (Venezuela).
