Thanks for the tour in the past, @geekgirl!
You will not believe, but when I was at university (1992-1997), we had computers, like at the end of your article. On them, we learned and wrote programs on FORTRAN 77! Monitors showed only 2 colors: dark green (background) and bright green (main). And in the next room, there were big spools with a ribbon.
But, it's not I'm so old ... :-) These computers were such ...
Then I had the first personal computer - ZX Spectrum (with the cassettes), and then there was a drive for 5" and then went the rapid development ...
By the way, I see Apple 1 for the first time! It is beautiful...
