I loved books as a way to stawe off my boredom, sometimes as as education. I used to read novels and magazines as an escape from my boring college lectures.
So mostly I used to read book but it was never like a habit. And then the unexpected lockdown happened. It was the time when I was having no work and the days were going very lazy. Luckily my cousin recommended some good books for me to read. He guided me to read about the current political situation of our country. I started reading about it and my interest grew more and more to read.
Reading books has many many benefits,it boosts both mental and physical health. Few days before I read an article which says that reading books keeps our mind so much engaged that it helps to prevent age related diseases. Also in terms of stress level reduction, book reading is as effective as doing yoga. There is a quote by Joseph Addison, Reading is to mind what exercise is to body.
So basically book reading contributes to a longer life🌸.
In the year 2020 I have read books of all genre. From The Ramayan to the history books I read many books both online and offline. This has helped me a lot to concentrate my mind. I had developed a habit of reading books everyday. So what I do is I try to read 30 pages of the book daily. And this helps me to finish the book very fast. This habit keeps me very much motivated to read the next book.
