[Blog] How much is too much work?

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

I just had a random piece of thought this morning.

How much is too much work? After what criteria do we judge this? When we say that we work hard, what do we take into consideration?

I mean, we always say that we work hard, don't we? And I believe we do. I believe that we do always try to give as much as we can. But we always can do more. We never give 100%. It's not recommended to do 100%, because we would die, but we could always continue.

I was listening to a podcast regarding endurance a few weeks ago. And this was the premise of the podcast. There were studies made that showed that long distance runners, could run more that they thought they could.

And I think this is in life as well. We think we reached our limits, but in reality we are just testing the waters.

For example, it took me 2 years to find out that I could sleep 5 hours a night. It took me 2 years of testing and pushing the limits little by little until I started to move my waking time from around 6AM to around 4PM.

I think that when we say we gave our 100%, that's not true. We think we did, but we didn't. We could always do more. Just a little bit.

What do you think about this?
