RE: A Momentary Lapse of Reason - How I Came to Love Pink Floyd

in #blog3 years ago

Like you I was not that impressed with Another Brick in the Wall, but as a student I listened to Dark Side via a friend and saw The Wall. That converted me. Meddle is one of my favourites. I'm not so into the post-Roger stuff. He brought an anger that gave them an edge. I do love Pros and Cons that I have on vinyl. I've just not seen any of them live. I was in Germany when Roger did The Wall at the Berlin Wall, but didn't get there. I saw a Waters gig on Netflix that was good. I did get to the V&A exhibition of all their stuff. That was great. Such a great band at their peak.

I think of all their ouevre, The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking is my favourite. I'd never really thought of it in terms of an 'edge' with Roger, but now that you mention that, I totally get it. I did later grow to love The Wall, particularly after I'd seen the movie with Bob Geldoff.
