Porch Time With A Chipmunk

in #blog3 years ago

My little friend from last year has survived the winter. It has been so nice this week that we opened up the porch and cleaned off all the furniture. I had no more sat down and CeCe, which I named her, came on the porch and sat there staring at me. I knew she was wondering if I had any sunflower seeds or peanuts to share.

Delightful Peanuts

I put some peanuts in a bowl on top of the table right next to me. A few moments later she jumped right up and started filling up her pouches. Then off she ran to the side of the house only to return and repeat the process.

It is so funny watching her decide which ones to take first. As you can see she is keeping a close eye on me as I snap a few pictures of her.

With her mouth full she was off and running to her den once again.

Lap Time Training

While she was off storing her peanuts I put a blanket on my lap and placed the bowl there. When she returned she took one look and jumped right onto the arm of my chair and down to the bowl.

There was hardly a moment's hesitation and she began filling up her cheeks again.

Cuteness Overload

The fact that CeCe remembered our porch-time routine really surprised me and I could not be happier to have my little friend back again this year. Isn't she just the cutest little critter?

It won't be long before I will start to pet her but right now she moves away from my hand. Patience is the key and I am happy with our lap-time for now.

Until next time, this is Sunscape

They are cute, but SO destructive in my gardens!

That is very unfortunate for you. I think because I give them peanuts, corn, and sunflower seeds they leave all of my gardens alone. Have a great day.
