001 The State of My World | New to Hive

in #blog • 5 years ago (edited)

So I've finally signed up to Hive. So far I'm liking what I see (other than my wallet. 🤣) Hopefully soon I will be able to fill in some details about myself either in a post or hopefully in a profile section that I have yet to discover. But for now readers will have to figure me out by my words in these posts. Recently I've really been enjoying getting outside and riding my bike. I like to go for long rides but sadly have little opportunity for trips longer than 2 hours. Occasionally I can get half a day on a weekend. I've been planning and hoping for the opportunity to go on my first bike packing adventure. Well, at least my first overnight trip. Baby steps leading up to a multiple night adventure. At the moment my left calf and knee are bothering me probably from the 30+ miles I traveled over the weekend or more so the big hills I climbed.

It's been about six months since I started a mostly plant based diet and it seems it has been working well for me. I need to get back to more fruits and vegetables instead of all of the pasta, bread, and plant based meats that I've been eating recently. I think that would help me recover a bit faster.

Lately my job has been keeping me busy indoors. I was furloughed for awhile but was called back early. It was nice to have a job still waiting for me as so many people do not. I am very blessed in several ways all for which I am thankful.

I have also been wanting to get back into creating video content. Jessica and I enjoy vlogging for Christmas aka Vlogmas. So I would like to get some practice in before the season starts. We ordered some new lights and a wireless lavalier microphone. I think those items will make a huge difference in our production value. 😂

I spend a lot of time in the finished basement section of our home. That is where my office for work is as well as all of my toys such as drum set, guitars, and video games. I really need to clean the mess up and could probably benefit from rearranging the furniture. But I can tell right now that is not going to happen any time soon. I do not enjoy those kinds of tasks at all. I will do a little here and there and hopefully that eventually ends up motivating me to finish the task.

I still have a lot to talk about but I figure I should take a break and save some for tomorrow. Maybe I'll straighten up a bit of the man cave. Nah, I will probably start reading and watching more on video production, bike packing, and Hive.

Welcome to HIVE @timodell7

Always great to see new faces joining the platform, its a bit of a rocky terrain but I'm sure you're used to that, plenty to see learn and get involved in at break neck speed so take your time to learn and ask questions, loads going on

Hope to see you around the blockchain more often, wishing you all of the best

Thank you @chekohler for the welcome and great comment. I'm going to try and hold on loosely but not let go. :)

Hello @timodell7 Welcome to Hive. So nice to meet you. So glad you chose Hive for your writing experience.

The key I feel to being successful on any social platform, especially on Hive is to write original, quality content and engage and connect with other authors with quality comments on their articles. They in turn may engage with you.

Did you know that when you publish your posts on hive.blog, you are allowed 8 tags; but when you publish your posts on Peakd, you are allowed 10 tags. The more tags, the more exposure for your posts. For example, if you write about food, an appropriate tag may be: #foodiesbeehive #food #diy #build-it. Writing about specific holidays, then use the tag for that holiday #christmas #creativecoin. Writing about home projects, then how about: #build-it #diy #creativecoin

Find several Communities that fit with your writing. No matter what type of writing, there is a Community on Hive to accommodate it. Just browse the COMMUNITIES TAB above. You can post directly into the Communities your writing relate to DIY, you have the BUILD-IT & DIYHub Communities. Or, NaturalMedicine Community.

Hope this information is useful and hope to engage with you again soon. Take care and stay safe.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome. I have joined the Terminal discord and will check out Peakd. I'm excited to work on my next post as well as browsing and finding accounts to follow.

Welcome to Hive :)

For a start you may want to add introduceyourself tag to your post. That's usually where all the newbies start and get noticed. Unless you plan to write a new introduction post (do not copy the same one).
Also keep in mind to post the same post only once, otherwise it may be considered spam and that is nothing good around here ;)

Hope you enjoy it here and feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Thanks. I'm a little out of practice. Wasn't sure how much has changed and forgot about lacking the ability to delete after posting. I didn't think my first post from the other site posted here. But then I saw that it did a bit too late. Not quite like riding a bike but close enough I guess.

Oh okay I see you are not a complete newbie :)
The biggest changes are the communities which is a good way to discover and be discovered too. Especially the thematic ones.
The rest will come back I guess.

I am liking the communities. Thank you for highlighting that feature.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, keychain and Peaklock,
  3. The owner password is only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and
be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own
    .
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. Do Not open any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.
