My very first PC (Personal Computer)

in #blog2 days ago

Recently I found an old box, it turned out, that it is from the main board of my first PC! Back in the days... Somewhere in December 1999 to be precise, my grandfather bought me as a new years present a personal computer. We managed to find a far relative of ours, who worked as a computer specialist in the firm of an Armenian guy. So he cooperated to us, purchasing the computer. The PC itself arrived as separate parts somewhere in February 2000. They build the setup, and called us to go to the firm in order to take it. We got there and paid over 1000-1100 USD for the PC plus a monitor (17" Samsung Sync Master 750s). Ha-ha I still remember the exact model :D. Further more it had Windows 98 SE operating system. It was very buggy, and had to be re-installed over time. My relative also came at my home with somehow big bag, full of... CDs, and gave away to me many files, almost fulling-up my 20GB hard drive. Next... one day, I deleted some of the files to free space, other day deleting files from the OS got me in trouble - the PC was not able to boot. So it had to be turned back to the firm for fresh new installation of windows...

It was important for me to play games on it. But after some time... two-three years later, the price of my PC dropped, and on the top of that I was not able to play the newer games, that came out, so I had to upgrade, but that's another story...

This is the main board box with the model on the side:
