Hello friends!
Today, on the way to work, I decided to deviate for a couple of minutes to photograph the view from a historical place. This place is called "Snake shafts".
View from the "Snake shafts".
The name "Serpent Ramparts" comes from folk legends about ancient Russian heroes who, as it were, harnessed the serpent to the plow to dig these trees.
They were created to protect against nomadic tribes. And existed as fortifications.
If you read, you can see that they are in half of Ukraine.
And where this photo was made, one of the highest points. Because the city in which I live is about 20 km from Kiev, and was founded as a fortress settlement in 988 on the orders of Vladimir the Great to protect the capital.
Also on the slopes is the Cathedral of Anthony and Theodosius built around 1758.
View of the cathedral. A source
And these two places I pass constantly when I go to work.
In the city to the present time, there is no particular attractions. Except as these places. This city does not exist in tourist guides. Now it's just a district center. And when it was a hope and a strong point.
Thank you for your time)
It is such a quaint and beautiful and idyllic town. And the Cathedral is so serene. There is such a awesome feel of history. Your story about the place is very intriguing. You live in beautiful surroundings @vetal .
Thank you for sharing your impression, I'm very pleased that you liked it)
Of course I liked it. I connect to Ukraine 😊
