We built a Trike that RUNS ON AIR! | WandererOnWheels Project #1

in #blog8 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemers!

I'm studying mechanical engineering and I'm in my final year.

While graduating, it requires for us to do an innovative project to get an edge over other engineers and be Industry ready.

As a part of that, my team and I thought about utilising air as a source of fuel to propel a vehicle.

This enables us to -

  1. Reduce costs on building heavy engines, components, spark plugs, catalytic converters etc.
  2. Reduce pollution and make the environment cooler.
  3. Refueling is economical and can be done at home.
  4. Building the vehicle on a large scale would be very pocket friendly compared to some conventional vehicles.

I can go on about this, but I don't want to make it boring for you :p

So, I made a Cinematic Videography of our project and I would like to share it with ya'all!

Hope you enjoy it!

The Team - Loyson, Loy, Praveen, Me (L to R)

I would like to specially thank my brother @yesaye for staying awake with me till 2 AM to get this video done!

Keep steamin'

Cheers! :D

Good going my friend.

You guys seem to be innovating something new every time I come across your posts.

I really wish you guys come up with a air powered motorbike ;) wink

Looking forward more future innovate work .

Cheers

Thanks man!
I doubt we'll get such wonderful opportunities again so making the best of engineering life :P
Would you like to see a dirt-bike instead? ;)

Great project! I remember tata motors announced that they were working on compressed air cars back in 2011. Do you know what happended to that?

Really? I didn't know about this. I'll check that out! @kskarthik

Ohh! I had seen a picture of this. I didn't know it was by TATA. Very good initiative by an Indian company!

Hope it doesn't get suppressed.

Look at the video by history TV. That car looks far more efficient by 2008 !

Yeah! I hope so too.
I'll check it out ;)

The only argument against air power vehicles is that the majority of methods of filling the air compressor is quite wasteful.

If you used a small windmill to charge the tank of the compressor, this vehicle could go to work and back, then recharge without using any additional power.

Totally agree on that.
However, windmill can't make enough power to fill up the tank since the speed of the vehicle isn't enough to turn the windmill at adequate speeds.
We could also utilise solar power to run an air compressor which is fixed on the vehicle to maintain air pressure in the tank.
There's a lot of scope for improvement on this one!

I meant have the windmill at home, to charge a fixed tank all day and night. Like a gas station, but with air. :-)

Ah! That sounds like a great idea! ;)

Very cool! I'm thinking about studying engineering, either mechanical, electrical, or environmental, thoughts?

Hey @moonie
Take up the subject based on your interest, otherwise you'll end up regretting taking up engineering.
I find electrical to be a difficult subject. I'm not really sure how environmental is. I took mechanical because I have a lot of interest in cars, IC engines, motorcycles etc. :)

Cool thanks!

1.) The bike itself is amazing. Impressive design! (and I now want one lol)
2.)Fantastic job with the video! It was well timed and powerful. you have a maketing gold star from me lol

seriously, great job guys

Woah! Thank you so much @momerathalice :')
You can always have a ride on it if you happen to come by to India :P

Wow you made it, this is good for the start then after to run you can enhance that and make a better one. Looking for the nxt.... keep it up @wandereronwheels upvote and follow you

Thank you @crisgojar , we can always work on it and come up with improvements.
That's why we have made it large.
PS: We have built another vehicle, a Baja Buggy.
I'll post about it here soon. Keep supporting :)

Hey thanks a lot :D

This project is very cool, take it to another level .

Wow! This is a great project Varun.
Wish you all the best of amazing success on this.

Thank you so much @curie for resteeming my post. The two days of hard work I put on making the video has paid off! :')

This is cool man! Awesome video too! But I'd still prefer petrol :P Peace!

Hahaha! I would too, over this or any other source! We're petrol-heads after all :P

I want it in Africa right NOW! Please.

That's great! Now whatever you do, don't take your invention to the government. Someone in the U.S. invented a device that would allow cars to run on water. He told the CIA about and, well, he is no longer here.

My country wouldn't do that! :P

wow....!! this is awesome innovation... good work :)

Thanks Ramya! :D
Will be posting more of my projects soon ;)
