We first met Cherry Dollface at an event called Nashville Boogie at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN. We had known about her work for years, though. Cherry has made an amazing career out of her hair and makeup tutorials on YouTube. Years ago, she was just a regular young pinup gal who got spotted by a photographer at a car show. The next thing she knew, Cherry was on the covers of magazines, a celebrated figure in the pinup/ rockabilly community, and an online icon for leagues of new pinups all over the world who were just figuring out their first victory rolls.

Cherry has a unique approach to the pinup world – anyone can do it! She doesn’t believe that the pinup world is exclusive, all women are beautiful enough to be models. This type of positivity really connects with her fans, and the response to her videos and other social media really proves it.

So, in April 2016 we were sitting at our booth at the small music festival in Nashville, largely ignored by the crowd and fairly bored by booth life that day. We knew Cherry was at a booth on the other end of the large auditorium that was both car show and vendor area, and had thought about going over to meet her at some point. After a few hours of absolutely no activity, we decided to leave Cowgirl Ginny in charge and walked over to pitch a book idea to Cherry. At that point we had only one major release under our belt (and two or three in various stages of production), so we must be pretty compelling in our book pitch.

Once we started working with Cherry, we quickly realized that she is one of the hardest working and most dedicated professionals we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Once she agreed to write a book, she did just that – wrote an entire vintage lifestyle book over the course of several months, all while doing her normal busy schedule of filming, traveling, and hosting classes all over the world. We had a few production meetings to touch base throughout the rest of 2016 and the beginning of 2017, but Cherry was truly the driving force being the production of her book. Not only did she complete the manuscript, but created a shot list for all of the necessary photos, and set up 3 days of shooting with photographer Paulifornia. That’s the great part of working with Cherry – she’s focused and self-driven. She’s also very open to new ideas and suggestions – she took our recommendations seriously and incorporated changes to the manuscript as needed.

By Summer 2017, everything was ready to go and we started design work. It was slow-going at first, as this was the most design-heavy book we’ve put out so far. Photography books, while they do require design work and skill, aren’t nearly as complicated as a text-based tutorial book that combines words, pictures, background, and other images.

It took every available minute to finish the production work in time for the print deadline, but we did it! You can currently pre-order “Dollface Vintage: An Everyday Gal’s Guide to a Vintage Lifestyle” from our website, they are scheduled to ship by December 1.

Here’s an exclusive sneak peek of the book just for our awesome Steemit followers. Enjoy!
