I'm finding it harder and harder to see the value added in the upvote bots.
But people are still keep using it even if they continually losing money
Not to mention that the dollar amount that you receive will have 25% cut out for curation, need to figure that into the equation as well.
Let's get the word out there so we can all benefit from these bots and stop losing our hard earned money.
Make a post about it and how to use the tools mentioned above. Or just resteem this post...
MAKE EVERYONE AWARE.
I'm like spamming my own post but just doing it hoping people will spread the word and make everyone aware.
that is 100% correct... I only saw minnowbooster openly factor that in. Bid bots don't care how much you get in return
I thin there should be a bot to send a message to those users that made the bid bot unprofitable. So they will know that they are having a loss, and making the pther lose too.
I have ask one of the bots creator about putting a code to limit the bid when the vote value of the bot is reached. This code will refund the money given by the bidder with a memo saying "bot vote value already reached try again after 2 hours or so".
I was told that they did that before but too many people complaining that they cant get a bid through. So this means a lot of people out there don't mind losing money as long as they get voted a little bit bigger.
the bot makes money though from this do they not? more profit for the bot it seems.? thus giving bot owners incentive to not openly give this info away. even disappointed customers come back if thats the only store they know of. I mean... look at apple... clearly they hate their customers removing key features from phones. People still line up to shell out 1000 for a phone with no sd card slot and no aux jack. I am thankful that you posted this though i was unsure myself how these bids function...
You are exactly right. Every mistake we make on those bid bots the owners or creators of them bots are the one profiting.
That is why we the customers are the ones who can dictate how these bots functions. Before I found out about the bot tracker, I usually stop using a particular bot if It give me lower than what was given....
This was the EXACT information I was looking for, managed to get my upvote in just in time before payout. Thank you very much!
You are welcome
I didn't know about steemit more info, thanks!
What I do use myself is BIDDER — DR. OTTO ANALYZER by @msg768.

Exactly! Glad somebody is making a post about this! When I see the same account regularly throwing in 5 SBD near the end of bids, I know this person isn't calculating if it'll get in return a loss, a gain or be even. You need to get 33% more than you paid in order to have a winning bid, else you are losing or desperately only trying to promote (which is near impossible to do unless you end up on the trending page).
And even worse, I see people bidding against themselves! Let's say a bot 100% votes is at 2$, and there is already one bid at $0.5 of SBD. Then I see somebody putting in two times 0.5 for two different posts. It's not a good move because that person will be getting a third of the pie ($0.66 times two or $1.32 for 1 SBD) on each post instead of having more with half the total value on one post ($1 for 0.5 SBD) if this Steemian had bid for only one of its post at a bidding round time. That is complete self-sabotage!

Yes, I agree with you about spreading the word. I thought about resteeming the post, but I also been wanting to do my own on the topic for a while. I just need to come around to it. I intend to also cover the particularities of each bot, in other words making some kind of review and adding the what-to-dos & what-not-to-dos. I think I would prefer putting the message into my own words. :-)
Yes that's good, better do your own post and as you said cover what I have missed. More information more awareness. We all benefit from it.
Thank you very much.
Great insight I use some bots and even with the steem bot tracker I somehow have received lower than the sent amount a few times. For instance I sent 0.35 to @voter and received 0.32 in return upvote but at the time the steem bot tracker (https://s3.amazonaws.com/yabapmatt/bottracker/bottracker.html) said the max profitable bid was 0.37 so I am unsure as to why I got back less. Any idea?

Did you see if someone else made a bid after you? That's the only way I could think why you received lower return.
No I did not check to see that but that must be the case so I guess your point of this article is just that. That if you follow all the rules use the bots correctly and bid with the help of bot tracker you can still get robbed if someone makes an ignorant bid on that same bot last minute.
Yes that is correct. It does not matter if you use this bot tracker someone can still put their blind bid on the last minute.
That is why we need to make everyone aware, to stop them putting a bid without knowing if that bot has reached its voting value or if it still profitable for everyone.
I think people are finding this out more and more. The rate you put in is less than what you get out. It means maybe just maybe steemit is working the way it was intended to. Too many people using bots leads to less and less rewards. Detouring people from use of bots and go the route of making better posts or contributing more curating in steemit.
If steemit is worried about these bots, they should have abolished it long ago. Also these bots are owned, created, run or supported by our witnesses. That means all these bot are still good and not putting impact on the reward pool.
If people wisen up, these bot could still be good for what it is created for which is a tool for us to use to advertise our article or post.
How would you abolish bots?
Are these bots bad or harmful to the steemit platform?
If these bots are harmful we can control it. Steamcleaners are doing a good job at moderating plagiarism. Same method could apply to these bots.
We might not completely remove these bad bots but it won't be used by many because they know that if they use it they might get flagged or something.
This is great information, though I think you're being harsh on people. Most people are not even aware they can track bots in this way, I am one of them. So it's not that people are sabotaging, they are just trying to get their content seen.
Great info though, keep it up! :-)

yeah I know I am a bit harsh on these people because I was one of them.
Way before these tools came out, I was bidding on bid bots then the tool or extension "steemit more info" came along and that is how I saw that you can lose big money as well on bid bots.
If I saw that I was losing on that bot I just stop using it and go for a less riskier like minnowbooster and randowhale.
This is what I don't understand, if you know you are putting money in on a bid or bet or gamble wouldn't you make sure you are on the winning side most of the time?
I think the bid bot name is not really a bidding bot because you are not really bidding on something. What we are doing is buying a percentage of the total vote value of that bot. It is either everyone wins or everyone loses. If it is a bidding bot then there will be winners and there will be losers.
Anyway, I hope everyone will see this post and start using the tools mentioned... Save them their hard earned money.
I asked the same question and was told it was worth it for the 'exposure'
^shrugs^

@webcoop this shows people r ignorant of this platform. They jst think it is ezy means of mking money....doesnt matter hw it comes.
Rightly said no bot is profitable currently. Rando already gone fr long sleep...rest were just hanging around. Even utopian bot is risky...currently
Yap all is risky we just have to make sure we minimize our loses. And we should learn to stop for a bit if we continually losing on that particular bot.
Not sure if it's easy money, I think it's more for exposure.
Thanks for the post, people need to pay attention and not throw just a big bet expecting higher returns. I find these bots misleading sometimes. You expect at least a 120% return on your expenses.

Yep don't expect to get return as long as I remember it was still the word BET, right man @webcoop ? Nice article reminds steemitians not to throw and burn $$$ 😊

That exactly i have question and i always check record before after and what Value of minimum so not losse money but i also seen some people who bid blindly. For example nettybot vote at 50% and his vote value is 1.5 $ so max vote can get of 0.75 $ but people bid it at 2 $ so they may be not know what maximum return will get. Thanks for that tool to see tracker because i dont know about it before and i was calculated by myself manually but it will usefu
At least some are trying to make sure their return is equal to or bigger than capital even if doing it manually.
I'm glad to be of help.
Yes because reason for use bot is giving boost to earnings of our post and if there is no benefit or get less amount then capital then its batter to not use.
Wow great information.Thank you.
you are welcome

Nice read on the post. I have not use an upvote bot in a few days but I surely missed them. I may have to return soon. It's a good point that you show steemians this because they cause an overbid and want the bot owners to instantly correct it. Then, run around complaining that they did not receive a fair upvote. Why? because someone bid on a booked bot. I'm sure most upvote bot owners are trying to find a solution to it also.
I have been watching the bot tracker and I have not seen an over bid bot yet. I hope people are now watching their bids carefully.
Easy fix just a line of codes --- if total bid >= bot vote value then reject more bids. Return over bid - type memo - bot vote value already reached by $value bid again after 'hours'minutes'secods
However, I was told by someone that it was already done before but people kept complaining that they can't put a bid on.
I don't think the bot owners will put the code that stop bot accepting bid when it reached the value because they will lose money that way. If people over bid more money goes to the bot, more profit
