I have been blogging for the past 2 years and if you are familiar with the world of blogging you will realise that gaining a significant amount of following is not an easy task. There are, however some tried and tested ways of making sure that your chances of getting more followers on your blog or website are significantly increased. As steemit, itself can be viewed as a blogging platform, steemians can successfully utilise some of these recommendations to boost their following. I am going to list the ones I believe could be of benefit to my fellow steemians.
Produce quality content
This is of course a no brainer, however, most people seem to underestimate the impact of producing quality content to their follower count. With thousands of articles on steemit, your readers are not going to be wasting their time on a poorly written article or one that gives them no value at all. You, therefore, have to make sure that your articles have good grammar and no spelling mistakes; nothing puts off a reader more than an article with bad grammar and a lot of spelling mistakes etc. Also make sure that the articles that you write produce some sort of value to your readers. Your readers are constantly sifting through tonnes of information and they will only have a few seconds to scan your content. If they see no value in it, they will quickly move on to the next great article, so make your articles engaging and valuable at the same time.
Find your niche
Finding a niche topic to write about is also very important. Most readers go online to solve a particular problem. For instance, a reader may be looking to buy a certain car but is unsure about whether it is a good buy or not. They will therefore look for a website or blog that talks about cars to try and get a review about that particular car. If the reader likes cars, they will always return to the blog or website to read more. Getting lots of followers is great, however, getting lots of loyal followers is even better; readers that will come back to your blog daily to read your content. Concentrating on a particular niche topic and becoming an authority in that niche will enable you to get that loyal following. When readers are looking for information about a particular topic, they will always go to your blog to look for it. You have to, however, pick a topic that you know you will have lots of things to write about. A rule of thumb is if you cannot write up 10 great articles from that niche then it is most probably not your niche
Post regularly
It is also important to post regular updates for your readers. You, however, have to maintain a balance. If you are posting an article once every 2 months then your readers will notice this and they won’t bother to come back. If you also post too much content, however, you risk overwhelming your readers with information so make sure that you have that balance. You can try to observe the times that your readers usually engage with your content the most and only post content during those peak times. In short, you have to be consistent with your content posts. If you are struggling to write regularly, you can go read my other article (link below) on how you can make that easier for yourself.
How to consistently keep up with your steemit content updates
Branding
Last but definitely not least is branding. On average, content creators with established, professional brands get more followers than those without. A professional name goes a long way towards establishing your brand. For example, noone will take you seriously if your blog is called “naughty cupcakes”. If you can get someone to design a logo for you that will also be great. Readers love to know that the content they are reading is from a professional and reputable source. A professional name as well as a logo, along with the other three things listed above, will hence show your readers that you are serious and you are not a random guy from the street who is just playing around with the keyboard to pass time.
