PREPARE FOR THE UNKNOWN

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone. I just want to share my thoughts on what I've experience last time.

I walked on the street of Panaderos in Manila after taking out food in a fast food chain. When I was about to cross the street, I don’t know what to feel when I saw this old couple. They are selling cigarettes and candies at the isle. They looked at every person that passed in front of them. At first I was annoyed. I asked myself, “What did they do when they are still young? Did they miss the opportunities that came? Did they waste their time and strength? Are they unlucky? Or they just let and accept what life throw to them?”

I paused for a while, “what if when they were at my age they are also enthusiastic like me? Isn’t it possible that what they are right now is also my destination?” There are so many questions flying on my head. It made me confused on what life may bring to me and to my family. “Are all my hard works and sacrifices will result to nothing? What will happen to me? And my family?”

But I know the answer to all my questions. It is written on the Book of Jeremiah 29:11. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

It is natural for us to have fear of the unknown. We are scared of the things that was not yet happening or will happen soon. It is normal because we are human. But sometimes we tend to forgot God if we are walking in the path of trials and hardships. Remember the story of FOOTPRINTS ON THE SAND? We thought that God left us in the times of trials after seeing that there are only one set of footprints. But the truth is what we saw is God’s feet. He carried us on those times of darkness and sufferings.

I know that I must trust HIM with all my heart. What we need to do is to believe that everything that happens to us is part of HIS plans. The bad things that happens to us may bring positive or negative effect depending on how we act on those things. Let me tell you a short story. There are 3 people eating on a restaurant. While eating, a flying cockroach came. The first one, Janna, defocus on eating. She was distracted by simply looking and following where it might alight. She forgot the delicious and melting ice cream in front of her. The second person is Yael. When he saw the flying cockroach coming to him, he was frightened. He stood up and tried to beat it using the table napkin. Unintentionally, he hit the glass of water and poured on him. The third is Migel. He saw the cockroach. He just relaxed and wait till it alight on his table. He uses the table napkin and catch it. Moral lesson: be prepared. Preparation is the answer to the unknown. As my father said, “Success is not an accident. It is the fruit of your preparation, hard work, sacrifices, rising and learning from failure while keeping the faith to God”
