Another disadvantage that you may have to deal with when you begin blogging as a hobby is that your blog will not be updated as frequently as you would like it to be. Most blogs tend to be updated every day or at least once a week, and this is great, but if you are on a tight budget, you might not be able to afford to keep up a blog every single day, so you will have to find other methods to generate traffic to your blog. Either of these methods will produce results and they will also cost you nothing, but they may not be as effective as having your own blog.
