It has been less than a month since I joined Steemit and ChainBB (and 2 days since I made my first post).
Why I didn’t want to join Steemit?
A month ago, I found out that there exists a blockchain application which is being utilized as a social media platform.
Being a technology buff, I presumed that it must be a niche tech forum for blockchain or cryptocurrency enthusiasts.
To my dismay, it wasn’t! 😐
But it cleared a huge doubt in my head - Could there be a blockchain application which is readily adopted by the general public? 😵
I was just looking for a use-case and I was surprised to see a full-fledged social platform where people are sharing their travel pictures, writing huge posts on crypto-world and on arbitrary topics such as ‘life’.
Incredible! 😲
But I still wasn’t willing to make my account on another social platform (after being present on Facebook, Instagram and what not), especially when none of my friends were here.
Yeah yeah! There is an idea of earning through publishing and curation.
“Seriously! Money for Curation!” I would think. 😏
I mean how many times you see “Make $5000 at home! Join Now!” type of ads in your mailbox?
There is always a catch, no?
NO. 😤
I was wrong again (Wow! What haven’t I learned about advertising till now?)
But this idea that you could earn through publishing and curation got clarified after a couple of weeks.
Till then I would just come back and read some posts ignoring what I thought was a ‘clickbaity’ idea to make one join the platform.
But why did I keep coming back??
I realized that the biggest reason I was here was because of the community. 😍
The genuineness of the publishers and their posts without ‘clickbaity’ titles on steemit was what made me come back.
Don't get it?
Just have a look at the trending posts.
How many of them have clickbaity titles? Probably less than 5%.
Now go to Facebook and see the difference.
It is as if the internet has colluded to waste the most precious and scarce resource we have – Our Time!
Steemit and a welcome lack of click baits 😄
On the other hand, there is Steemit.
You come to the platform, select the category of your interest, learn something, publish a post or vote for some good posts, get paid and go back to the real world wasting much less time watching random videos that add nothing to your life.
How has Steemit managed to keep Clickbaiters away?
It maybe because a lot of us on the platform publishing each day are immature bloggers.
Maybe because the giant content publishing whales and advertising professionals are not here yet, maybe because Steemit is not as big yet.
But there could be bigger reasoning to this.
Maybe we are fed-up of click baits and can easily identify one.
Maybe what we are seeing here is an evolution of content generation! 👏😊
The biggest question is – As Steemit grows, as the competition for earning from content increases, will we be able to keep the platform genuine enough?
I’ll definitely be here to see the story unfold. Will you?? 😊
Let's hope for the best for this community
