I began telling stories to my son Ross when he was three. I called the hero Good Ross. Eventually, Ross grew up, but my stepson, Bob, had a boy named Gus. I started telling him stories when he was four. By the time Gus was six he loved all my stories and I couldn't visit him without telling him a story about Good Gus. One time Gus’s cousin Cory came to visit. He wanted to be in the stories too, so I included him. You will meet him in Book 2 of the Good Gus series.
One day, while living in Ireland, I was walking to the gym to exercise. I began thinking about Gus and what he might want for Christmas that year. Gus has always asked me for special gifts. I began to think about what I might buy for him and then remembered the stories. By the time I reached the gym, all I could think about were the stories. As soon as I was finished, I rushed home to write the first story. The next day I was so excited, I called Gus as soon as he was out of school. He loved the story and was very excited to have a book about him. There are currently twelve books plus a Christmas book in the series.
I also have written a book based on true stories during my experience working as a paralegal at an estate planning law firm, and have edited a book written for heterosexual women on relationships. I'm currently working on another non-children's book. I really enjoy writing and have started blogging. I always try to blog about positivity and how we can learn from mistakes and try to better ourselves and our community. I hope you'll join me as I tackle a variety of subjects. The blogs will always be PG.
Thanks!
Mae
