Ethereum Falls on Report that it is Under Regulatory Scrutiny
According to a Wall Street Journal report, U.S commodities and securities watchdogs are investigating if the same rules for stocks should be applied to Ethereum and other cryptocurrencies. The analysis is based on whether founders of cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin have any control over their value, similar to how a company's managers might influence a company's stock value based on strategy and investments.
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has identified the cryptocurrencies as commodities, meaning they're exempt from SEC regulation. The SEC on the other hand, has indicated that it sees them as securities.

CryptoUK Urges Members of Parliament to Back Cryptocurrency Regulations
CryptoUK, a self-regulatory body set up to represent the cryptocurrency sector urged MPs to regulate the industry. CryptoUK claimed that MPs need to back proposals to regulate the industry in the UK which include the replication of P2P finance legislation to bring platforms under the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) remit, and ‘crypto-licences’ given to those that adhere to KYC and AML standards. Iqbal V Gandham, chairman of CryptoUK said:
"Introducing a requirement for the FCA to regulate the ‘on-off’ ramps between crypto and fiat currencies is well within the remit of HM Treasury. Based on our analysis, this could be achieved relatively easily, without the need for primary legislation, and would have a huge impact, both in reducing consumer risk and improving industry standards."

BTC, ETH, & Blockchain Super Conference Bring Your Friends… for Just $97?
Organizers of the 2nd BTC, ETH, & Blockchain Super Conference are running a special promotion. Attendees who reserve their spot before midnight on May 6th will be able to add “companion” tickets for just $97 per head.
Tickets to the Super Conference are available at an “Early Bird” price of $597. Additional “companion” tickets for any other guests of the main attendee cost just $97 – & will benefit from all the normal “Standard Attendee” privileges.
Why is this special offer on the table this week?
Richard Jacobs, the conference’s organizer, explains:
“This week, it’s my birthday. It’s also been about a year since I made my first Bitcoin investment, & because of that, the last 12 months have been incredible for me.” He adds: “I’m even more excited about the year ahead, & several of the biggest names in the crypto & blockchain space, including Tim Draper & Mark Yusko, are predicting that Bitcoin could break through its previous high of $19k before the year is out. I really wanted to share some of this excitement.”
The BTC, ETH, & Blockchain Super Conference will be held at Dallas on September 14th, 15th, & 16th at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
Organizers have upgraded the caliber of speakers. Many of the headline speakers from the previous conference will be there, including Tim Draper & Lyn Ulbricht, as well as dozens of other “smart money” investors who couldn’t make it last time, including Randi Zuckerberg, Mark Yusko, Nick Spanos, David Hirsch, & Gary Lel.
The overarching theme of all their talks, & the entire conference, will be the next crypto & blockchain market cycle. The tide is about to turn, & when it comes in it’ll bring a host of new investment opportunities to shore. That’s what this next Super Conference is about.
Tickets (including $97 companion tickets) are now available here: https://www.thefuturetechexpo.com/register/
