I just want to sell my Blurt

in #blurt5 years ago (edited)

Not everyone on Hive who was on Steem may realise they also have an account on Blurt. This is another fork led by ex-Steemit marketing man @birdinc. It seems to run on the same software as the Steemit site, but has a couple of little changes:

  • There are no downvotes
  • Transactions cost you some liquid $Blurt

The first of these is bad enough. It means people can spam, selfvote and otherwise milk it with impunity. The latter makes it less worthwhile for small accounts.

I was airdropped a few thousand $Blurt and started a power down as soon as I found out. There are limited options on where to sell it. @ionomy have a pair with Bitcoin. I have sold some $Blurt for Bitcoin to buy $Hive previously I tried to do the same this week, but so far the funds have not appeared on Ionomy yet.

Blurt

I was having a poke around there and saw some people using the Blurtlink account to get funds sent to Hive Engine. That may be an easier option and the fees seem low.

Update: I hear some people have had issues with this service, so proceed with caution!

The $Burt price has dropped in the last couple of weeks from about 3c to 1c, so this is not going to make much difference to me anyway.

I see some people are actually buying $Blurt to power up their accounts. Some are self-voting. Actually I could see who had voted on posts not long ago, but now I cannot. It must be possible to check the blockchain data anyway. I have done a couple of test posts, but a few cents of rewards are not worth my time.

Meanwhile, Steemit have started powering down. Of the seven million Steem they got this week 2.5m has been sent to Bittrex (I think). The $Steem price dropped a little when this happened. It will be interesting to see what happens to the rest. It will only take them four weeks to totally power down. Maybe they are desperate for cash.

Steemit
My Tweet about this activity got a lot of attention.

Sort:

hey steev!
ive been meaning to power down my steem for a long time but I have to cancel my delegations first which always gives me this error: missing required active authority:Missing Active Authority basilmarples
when I put in my private active key.
Its a shame because I probably wouldve been able to sell by now, but as usual my technical deficiency combined with my lack of motivation for problem solving has thwarted me!

Not sure what that error is. Maybe ask around on the Hive discord. I have a few Steem left, but will sell that too. The actions of Steemit/Justin have made it seem dirty to me.

my blurt only seems to be worth $19 so I probably wont bother with the hassle! hehe

Very interesting. I haven't been buying any Steem, but I have been holding on to a little just to see what will happen. If it ends up becoming worthless, oh well.

Someone must be buying Steem to keep the price up. I guess those who are milking it with self votes will want more. Steemit have not sold any more, but are still due to power down more this week.

It will be interesting to see how all of that pans out with them powering down.

I'm sure plenty of people are watching with interest.

I've been trying to sell off my Blurt for quite some time now... unfortunately, it's considered to be only $0.02 now (which is still worth more than the $0.01 estimate on their own site). But, I feel $0.02 a blurt is really too low.

A funny thing did happen. A couple a week ago, one of my pre-order somehow filled 4 blurt which sold for 0.016 ETH, which was almost a dollar a blurt.

Chance of this happening again are of course really slim as more people try to dump their blurt. But I was kinda amazed that it happened.😅

You got lucky there. I don't think the Blurt project has much value so far. People are just dumping their token as they will stick with either Steem or Hive.

Really lucky indeed.
I guess for now I have to hodl the blurt, how bad does that sound 😂

I'm not going to give financial advice. I'll just say what I would do and that may not be the best move. Blurt is likely a waste of my time.

I haven't had problems sending Blurt to Ionomy yet. It takes ages to shift as the volume is so low.

Sun must be eager to cash out.

Blurt doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, but maybe I should power down some tokens and hope for a spike to sell off.

Thanks @steevc.

Blurt was my idea more or less but @thecryptodrive is leading the project now.

Thanks for the clarification. I can see value in trying different models, but I don't have time to play with them all.

You were one of the many in eternity firing line....interesting to see where the 'sun's rise or set in doom.....guide me how to make the blurt into hive....may be it could help to increase hive stake a bit

You could try the Blurtlink method. I will try it next week. We had @swap.app to move between Steem and Hive. Selling my Steem bumped up my Hive a lot.

If Steemit dumps those tokens, it's going to be massive for the price... I wonder if they will sooner or later shut down the frontend too, that would be something nice to see and it would mean we really did win "the war" against JS and his authoritarian regime!

I hate seeing people profiting from milking Steem. It's just a shit show now. Such a shame they had to trash what we built up.

True, but they've been milking us for a while tbh... even before JS was in the picture... Steemit monetized our content through ads thus had ad revenue and kept 100% of the ad revenue and dumped their tokens on us, so they got both sources of income, one from our content being monetized, and the second from dumping tokens on top of token buyers that though Steemit inc was great and had their best interests in mind

So deepcrypto8 is an account of Steemit.inc?, the position of this account in Hive is quite important, is this something to worry about?.

No, I think that account belongs to the Bittrex exchange. You send funds there to get them onto Bittrex. That has been the case for years. The fact that they are moving out so much $Steem is reason for concern if you care about Steem.

Thank you for your quick answer, I'm not in STEEM anymore I leaved out for good 🙂, so I haven't any concern about that blockchain anymore. Cheers!.

@deepcrypto8 is the generic Binance account. I think trading is still suspended on Bittrex due to the fiasco we had a couple of months ago.

Ah, Binance, not Bittrex. I don't use those anyway,

Ah, I wondered when Steemit would start powering down! Will they try to pump the coin before dumping it is the big question.

There's a gap opening up between $Hive and $Steem. I hope that continues. Those scammers milking Steem ought to see their stake lose value. Most of the good people pulled out already.

I did not know about blurt. Thanks for this. I will probably convert all to hive :-)
Woop!

Get it quick as it's losing value fast.

Transactions cost you some liquid $Blurt

Some transactions should also be charged on HIVE.

When exchanging BLURT, Hive Engiene works very well.
Bittrex annoyed me, because I'm already waiting for my POWERUP for a week :(

We pay in RCs, but the cost is so tiny it does not stop people spamming.

Ah, it keeps telling me I can't power-down, I guess that's because I don't have any liquid blurt. How would I get some, have I got to buy it? 🤔

I've sent you some, so try again. It took me a while to understand what's going on. The site doesn't make it obvious how it works.
