Finally, after looking through many nurseries in Austin I found one that sells small bougainvilleas. They were the perfect size and different colors such as yellow, white, pink and even a mix of pink-yellow-orange. My choice was the pink bougainvillea because it reminded me home.
I was lucky because in the same nursery they also had bonsai pots. My choice of pot was black and rectangular since it will have a great contrast between the natural bright pink bougainvillea flower and the dark pot. In addition, white perlite provides a great look and water retention.
Some pruning was needed and there was one cutting that could be used to grow another bougainvillea. I used a rooting hormone to give it a little boost. It was potted in the same container.

I'm glad I finally have a bougainvillea to grow as a bonsai. I leave you with another angle of the bigger bougainvillea bonsai.
Thanks for reading!
