This elm is roughly 40yrs old. This is the first time I have transplanted this tree since purchasing it last year.
The first step is to remove a good amount of old soil and large roots, without completely bare rooting the tree.
I prepared the pot with drainage mesh and tie down wires. My soil is a mix of lava, pumice, and akadama in a ratio of roughly 1/1/1
The final steps are to fill in air pockets with a chopstick, tie down the tree and top dress the soil with a smaller particle size of the same soil mix or sifted sphagnum moss.
Aftercare will be to put plant in a shady area and keep the soil moist for the next few weeks.
