Hi @creativetruth, good job! now to wait for the new branch, I like the elms very much, once they gave me one but I bought it with fertilizer when I learned, now they do not get it in the nurseries. In the bonsai school we recommend when making these initial prunings, place a black background (of those used in the photograph) so you can clearly see the branch, it helped me a lot and now I use it for everything, even for defoliate the plants, hehehe, I loved your publication and learned several things, keep uploading your bonsai works, I'll be waiting, greetings from Venezuela! Below I attach a photograph to explain better with an example, observe how the black background highlights the branch.
