Recommended Read: How an economy grows and Why it crashes?

in #book7 years ago (edited)

Three months ago, I read the book called "How an economy grows and Why it crashes?" which is the first book I read about Economics.

This is a great book that teaches "how economies work". It's short, to the point, and in an easy-to-read comic format. This graphic novel paints a surprisingly easy to relate story documenting the origins of banking, government, democracy and laws which are widely considered as highly technical and confusing by general population.

The drawings, which often has a feel look based on The Flintstones are competent and entertaining and fit the story perfectly.

It starts with a simple society where people catch and eat their own fish. Then they transition to using fish as a means of exchange. It gets a little odd when they create banks to store fish and start making fish-based loans.

Everyone should read this book because it can practically help people to empower the economy and raise the standard of living of the society.

The book allegorically explores such topics as inflation, deficit spending, central banking, international trade, and the housing bubble and credit collapse of 2008. The Washington Times stated that the book "conveys the often intuitive ideas of economics through an engaging, fictitious story richly illustrated with amusing cartoons."

If you want to explore this transition, then I recommend this book!  I hope you enjoy the read like I did.
