The inclusion of Tibet in Ganchin means the acquisition of the Tibet-occupied territories by the People's Republic of China. This acquisition came after the signing of international recognition and modernization of the army by the Tibetan government, Tibetan mediation with China, the Battle of Chamda and the seventeen-point peace agreement of Tibet's peaceful release. Tibet's government and social structure remained unchanged under the rule of China, but after the Tibetan uprising of 1959, when the fourteenth Dalai Lama fled to India, the Tibet government was abolished.
