I never read the book, but the movie still brings back the warm fuzzies even after all these years.. I can imagine what it would be like reading (and visualising) the book at a young age, seems like it left an impact :)
You might be interested in this great symbolism breakdown of the movie from fellow steemain @dailybitcoinnews :)
I read that, and in fact the book even drips more with symbolism, and includes a dark night of the soul and a part involving the Mother, that was the part that made me cry. Seriously though, the movie is crap after you read the book, and the sequels... it is from disney isn't it?
No movie can ever really compete with your own imagination, especially as a youngin :)
I dont think disney was involved in this one - imdb
ah. you are right. not disney but wb. but they twisted the story so much from the original. In the book Bastian makes his misery by his wishes, but it is a necessary process. The movie makes it seem like Xayide is a nemesis but that is a very naive interpretation, and this ruins the whole thing for me. The reason why the book is so good is because it makes you hate Bastian.
