Area X: The Southern Reach Trilogy, Jeff VanderMeer. First Edition.
This one is cool, and I'm actually in the middle of reading the second volume in the trilogy. Jeff Vandermeer is an American writer who was initially associated with the Weird Fiction genre, but with this, The Southern Reach Trilogy, he broke into the mainstream. The trilogy is comprised of three independent novels: Annihilation, Authority and Acceptance. It's a little difficult to describe what it's about, except to say that Area X is a section of the United States that has undergone some sort of weird "change", and that The Southern Reach is a secret agency in charge of investigating the area. It's highly acclaimed, winning numerous awards, and last year was made into an excellent film directed by Alex Garland and starring Natalie Portman. I highly recommend checking these books out.
