Eye on Artists: Chuck Berry

in #boombox6 years ago

Another dope performer was Chuck Berry who had a distinct sound for guitar and a great powerful fronting vocal. “Johnny B. Goode” was one of his biggest hits.

It really is great how many live shows you can find on youtube really get to appreciate these actors live performance and understand their music and audiences more than on a single best of track.

Chuck Berry Also played with some of other artists that we had the eye on previously like Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, John Lennon of the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen who we might get to in the future. There is also a clip of Chuck Berry Keith Richards and Eric Clapton who we will discuss at some point jamming out which is pretty great.

John Lennon

Keith Richards

Bruce Springsteen and E Streen Band

Another big hit of Chuck Berry’s was “Roll Over Beethoven” it is pretty cool to hear early rock and roll and see where it went as time advanced.

I hadn’t heard it before but this songs pretty cool and one of my favorite phrases to try to get the ladies to think I speak French. “C’est la vie” is a pretty cool with a cool guitar solo.

“Sweet Little Sixteen” is another cool it

“No Particular Place to Go” Also discusses the human condition and the automobile mode of transportation tied down to a particular time and place in history then you get his awesome solos after a bit.

My favorite Chuck Berry song is “Maybellene” it is pretty rocking and has energetic guitar vocals and piano and an interesting lyrics and then a dope guitar solo and then you get to see the duck walk.

Chuck was a true pioneer of rock music who is rightly regarded as a legend. He lived a long, productive life and was able to perform well into his 80's.

Berry was the first among a million rock and roll guitarists-he came up with the basic guitar moves in this music. John Lennon said about him, " if you try to give rock and roll another name, that name will be Chuck Berry."
For me, Chuck Berry is the man who invented modern music.
