Eye on Artists: Led Zeppelin

in #boombox7 years ago

One of Led Zeppelin's biggest hits is "Stairway to Heaven" which starts with a meandering guitar line in a minor scale and then gets heavier with some interesting lyrics.

Another cool song is D'yer Maker which has a common interval pattern and has cool vocals and all around a catchy tune.

"Immigrant Song" is another hit of Led Zeppelin, all around rocking with great bass drumgs and electric guitar. The vocals are also pretty cool.

Really great you can find concerts on youtube and really get to experience this music as it was played.

"Kashmir" is another cool song of theirs that has an intense guitar riff and intricate vocals.

"Black Dog" is another rocking song. Zeppelin is all around a very rocking band!! I will have to research if its about a dog or what someday maybe.

"Whole Lotta Love" is another hit of theirs that like all their songs you can frequently catch on radio stations today.

Though the song that follows is probably my favorite. I also really like "Over The Hills and Far Away" it takes a while to get rocking but the foreplay makes it great.

One of my favorite Zeppelin songs is "Tangerine" which is a love song it has cool instrumentals and interesting vocals.

Sort:

IMO, Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band of all time. The vocals, guitar work and percussions, are incomparable, not to mention the sheer volume of musical landscapes their songs traversed. Music of this is sort is not just to be listened to but experienced as a journey into a world of artistic genius and craftsmanship.

Wonderful post, thanks.

Yea they are definitely up thtere if not the best, they have some great music.

They are the most rockin' and it's not even close. I worship at the altar of the Beatles, but when it comes to pure, sweet, slow dripping rock'n'roll Zeppelin sits on the throne.

Yea they were something else, pink floyd's also pretty dope but different feel

Saludos y muchas bendiciones...!!!

yea they were a cool group, i caught some of robert plant more contemporary stuff at Bonnaroo a few years ago

I think "Bring It On Home" is one of their most overlooked tunes. Easy to see why- it's the final track on Zeppelin 2, probably their most rockin' record all around. This song has so many casually cool elements.

The muted push of the blues intro is such a tease. The band knows how hard they're gonna slam you once the groove comes in. The riff Page plays to accompany Plant singing "Try to tell you, babe..." is one of his nastiest.

It's fun to compare the studio version to this live version

When it comes to the arrangement I think another element that sets Zeppelin apart is the decisions John Paul Jones makes about when to follow the guitar and when to contrast.

When the groove comes in the bass follows the guitar verbatim and it adds weight to the groove. Then when Plant starts singing the bass switches to some counterpoint. Not enough bands today following these examples.

Some good tunes, thanks for sharing hope you are finding your audience here on steem network

Yea they are pretty great, would have been cool to catch thei live show in person, so it goes

I know right? I've seen live concert dvds and they have this amazing energy on stage... wow. If there are two bands I've ALWAYS wanted to see live with all of their original members alive :( they are Led Zeppelin and Queen. No doubt.

I agree, or maybe Zapp, hope the weekend goes well!!

Thanks for tipping your hat to a good rock band. Good hits on the post too!

Thanks for your support glad you liked it. Hope your weekend goes well!!

I absolutely LOVE the cinematography (slow motion and fast cut shots) of the second "Immigrant Song" (concert) video. You're right, once again, about the NEW DIMENSIONS which YouTube provides us in seeing artistic works from various different angles and through different "lenses" and perspectives. For me, my main love is jazz, and there is PLENTY of awesome jazz content on YouTube as well. Good time to be alive - at least in THIS regard...

yea as lame as youtube can be there is some great stuff there, hope it's going well

One of my favorite rock group!! :D nice post with the best tunes
