If you've been paying attention to the news, it is hard to not notice that bots are the new sensation. From the alleged Russia meddling of the US elections to sowing discord among people on social media, bots have taken up a notoriety in the past year. It almost feels as if they are on a mission to take over the world.
It hasn't been all doom and gloom though. For the most part, bots have been laboring behind the scene, providing convenience and efficiency in our everyday online lives. Just take a look at the instant messaging app Telegram. You can find a bot for almost any situation. If you want your tech news delivered to you, ha! Techcrunch bot to the rescue. You can check out this post to read about some really awesome bots.
Personally though, my main obsession last year was Cryptocurrency. It is undeniable how huge the buzz about Bitcoin and Blockchain technology was last year. So much so that there are now talks of Bitcoin (or some other Cryptocurrency) possibly replacing fiat currencies. So, naturally, I wondered how long before bots wander into this space. I didn't have to wait long. As a matter of fact, I might have even caught the trend very late. A simple Google search led me to a plethora of bot-powered services meant to perform tasks ranging from lending your crypto assets on exchanges to bots that notified you of crypto market prices. Then there bots that trade for you! One such bot is the Bitcoin Growth Bot(more about this one in a subsequent post, shall we).
It is safe to say that we've arrived at a time when everything is becoming more and more automated. What's more fascinating to me is how the world will come to terms with this change. Will these bots really take over(T-3000, I'm looking at you)?!
