You can increase your SP just by claiming your rewards in your wallet.
It is important to do at least once in every day.
You get interest on your vested SP (your SP grows with time), and when you forget to claim your rewards, you both forfeit interest on them and get less curation rewards than you could have gotten and potentially smaller overall bids from bidders.

I notice that the bot is/was double-voting with a lower amount a day after the original (i.e. original vote is cancelled and replaced with a lower vote).
