It has been far too long since I participated in @shasta's Boulder Sunday challenge, but it feels like forever since I was able to get out and take photos!
It's rather amazing to me that this is week
82 of the challenge! The time has flown past!
While digging through my archives for #AlphabetHunt photos I came across these rocks that I don't think I have ever posted to the challenge before.
These were taken in Nevada years ago on a trip to the American Southwest.
I never have learned what that black streaking is on those rocks!
Thanks for giving me a reason to share my rock photos, @shasta!

.Love it when you share your rocks, I see many shapes in
these ones, like a buffalo on the top of the first photograph!Oh wow what wonderful boulders ❤ @melinda010100! :-)
This site says its desert varnish.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful boulders!
Ha! Now I clearly see the Buffalo, too! What an interesting article! Rock varnish. I've seen it often but assumed it was something leaching down from above.
Almost looks like a second buff behind the first! :-)
I had to go back and look again, but I think you are right!
majestic boulders i must say 🙏
Ooh..beautiful ! 😊 Is the #bouldersunday on any day of the week..?
@shasta has never discouraged me from popping in any day, so I believe it is OK.
Water flow might be the reason for those streaks but not so sure.
Thank you for introducing this contest to us :) @melinda010100
@shasta posted a link above in her comment that explains 'desert varnish'
Hope to see some boulders from your part of the world!
I will try to post them soon :)
