Saw a tiny glint of metallic green fly onto this boulder. It turned out to be a six spotted tiger beetle.
The glint of green i caught out of the corner of my eye. These guys are about the size of 2 houseflies back to back.
Here's the boulder the tiger beetle calls home. Happy #bouldersunday @shasta

Oh I really love this boulder bug @sketch.and.jam! and @whatisnew would love this bug, and @melinda010100 would love his shadow! What a very green critter and his beautiful boulder home! Wonderful photographs! Good to see spring spring forth!
Happy boulder Sunday 2U! :-)
I think the bug was warming up on the boulder they usually fly away as soon as they see me. I was able to get close enough with my phone for the shot.

Isn't it fun to start seeing insects again? Great boulder, too!
Yeah today felt like the first day of spring finally especially since it snowed last weekend. Caught alot of bird shots today as well.

It was a beautiful weekend, wasn't it?
Everything is blooming and the spring peepers are really loud.

I have a couple really annoying frogs in the creek under my bedroom window. The sing all night long and they are the most on rhythmic things! If you ever do come to Janesville make sure you plan some time to go to the Rotary Botanical Gardens. They are so beautiful and well worth a visit.
Ha outside the window is a bit much.

Beautiful color green on the beetle. It has a great big boulder home. 😊
I ended up scaring it off the boulder as i tried catching it for a better macro shot. It probably flew to one of the boulders in the background.

That's a real beauty
These little guys are ferocious i see them wait to ambush any bugs that land nearby. They seem to like flies the best and attack them from behind sort of like a tiger.

That’s an interesting colour for a beetle. It probably helps them hide in the grass.

I've seen them in copper color as well and they were near iron rich rocks, so it probably is camo.
