Shakur Stevenson VS. Alberto Guevara

Shakur Stevenson 12-0 7 KOs, took one step closer to his dream of a world title shot, with his impressive win over Alberto Guevara on Saturday night in Newark. The young upcoming boxer claimed his victory via a commanding performance in which he knocked Guevara down twice in the second round, and then finished proceedings with a third and final knock down in the third round, leaving the referee in charge, David Fields, no choice but to call a halt to the fight.

Stevenson has now moved into the prime position to challenge for a world title and now finds himself the next mandatory fight for WBO featherweight world champion Oscar Valdez, if Valdez decides to stay at the weight and defend his title. If the Valdez fight falls through, he will get a shot at a vacant belt, and at the post fight interview he called out Josh Warrington.

For such a young guy, at only 22 years old, Stevenson put on a polished performance that suggests a maturity beyond that of his years. He is a special talent that is lighting up the boxing world and could potentially be boxing's next biig superstar. Lets hope this young man lives up to all the hype.
