Today is my braces update and I’m happy to celebrate I have survived 3 full months now, lol.
As a refresher, I got my braces to correct my protuding and crooked teeth that was starting to bother me. Before things got worse, i decided to get self-ligating braces and was estimated to wear them for 12 months.
Here's where we started:
Here's where we are now:
One month ago, I had two upper first pre-molars extracted. I did this for only one reason, there is not enough room to move my protruding teeth.
I had these extractions done by oral surgeon. First, she put a numbing cream in my mouth and then did the injections. After a few minutes the surgeon came back in a checked to make sure I was numb and came the wiggling and pulling of the teeth. This took only a minute and i was surprised it didn’t hurt. My two first Premolars came out pretty easily and luckily i didn’t bleed a lot compared to my wisdom tooth extraction. I left with a gauze hanging out of my mouth though.
Now, for some kind of gross pictures
Im glad those ugly spaces aren't too obvious when I smile.
~I’m sorry this next pictures look so nasty!
On friday 18th May 2018, i went back to my ortho for my 3rd appointment and she put rubber bands in my teeth. She also gave me one bag of rubber bands(i have to wear them 20 hours a day).
I have little hooks on my brace at the top and bottom for the bands. I have to change them once or twice a day and take them out for eating and teeth brushing. By changing them always that means I have a fresh rubber bands on, so I can always feel the pressure. My ortho told me these bands would help to push my upper teeth back and this should really speed things up.
Its just only 3 months since i got braces. had my wisdom tooth and two first Premolar removed during the treatment, and my lower teeth are almost perfect now. However, my upper teeth still protudes, they look an absolute mess to me, but I am so excited to see what the end result will look like! My teeth are totally different to where I began 3 months ago.
That’s all I can think of for today! Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Question time:
