Not so long ago, EU's Juncker labeled Cameron, the PM who initiated the Brexit referendum (not out of interest in the will of his people or any care whatsoever for democracy itself, but to in fact actually try and stop democracy by hoping he would not lose seats to UKIP by holding the referendum, which he himself then went on to lobby against and was on the remain side, but that's another story) as "one of the greatest destroyers of modern era".

The Brexit referendum was for those not aware, the first result in England's history in which the citizens actually voted against the will of the ruling government. The way the results have therefore been handled, actually tells you a lot about the state of democracy, or lack thereof in England. The fact that the EU ignored and directly helped kill 2 referendums (Catalonia and Netherlands) and is actively to this very day in the final hours trying to do so again in England, tells you everything you need to know about how much they value democracy and the people's voice in Brussels.

But does either side actually care that they are at this point practically publicly telling the people "we don't care about your voice"? Of course not. In fact, for the past 36 months it's all been about claiming who bears responsibility for Brexit and a potential no-deal Brexit.

It's important to always remember that "Brexit" and the current situation is brought about due to the will of the people. Not because someone who just happened to be PM at a certain point decided to hold a referendum on a certain matter. It's brought about by the voices of the people who said we want an independent Catalonia, it's the voices of the people who said we do not want a trade deal or more EU extensions with Poroschenko's Ukraine, it's the voices of the people who said we want our sovereignty back and out of the EU.
Keep that in mind every time anyone makes remarks about those who insist on Brexit, because at this point, Brexit is the only EU based referendum result left standing and not bulldozed over by Brussels, and each and every time non-elected EU officials make those types of snobbish and accusative remarks about the Brexit referendum, they are in fact doing so against each and every voter who used their voice to say I want out of the EU.
Brussels is blaming democracy.
