JAKARTA: An authorized Bruce Lee biographical film will begin shooting this summer.
Titled Little Dragon, the film will follow Lee’s early life in the 1950s in Hong Kong, and his rise to stardom. Biographer Shekhar Kapur will direct the film.
“This film is a deeply personal exploration of Bruce before his inner power and discipline forged him into the ground-breaking icon that continues to this day to inspire people throughout the world,” said Tim Kwok of Convergence, a producer of the film.
Along with Convergence Entertainment, Little Dragon will be produced by Bruce Lee Entertainment, headed by Lee’s daughter, Shannon Lee.
“I always thought that a film about how my father’s life was shaped in his early years in Hong Kong would be a worthwhile story to share so we could better understand him as a human being and a warrior,” Shannon Lee told Variety. “I’m really excited that Shekhar will breathe life into the first film from Bruce Lee Entertainment.”
Filming will tentatively begin this July in Malaysia, and casting directors are searching for an actor to play the teenaged Lee.
Kapur said in a statement, “It is important that audiences today can relate their own lives to the journey of Bruce Lee, who managed to tap into his inner wisdom and harness his true destiny before it was too late.” – The Jakarta Post/Asia News Network
