State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has now launched a long term plan with a validity of 365 days at a price of Rs 1,999. The new plan offers 2GB 3G mobile data per day along with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for a year. This means the average per month cost of this plan comes down to Rs 167. The new BSNL plan is not available in Delhi and Mumbai circles. As of now, it is available only Chennai and Tamil Nadu telecom circles and is expected to be released in other regions soon.
Relaunch of the Rs 999 plan?
Earlier this year in February, BSNL had launched a similar plan with 365 validity at a price of Rs 999. This plan offered unlimited internet access for the whole validity period, however, the calling benefit is only for half of this time period (181 days). Also, the unlimited data too had a cap of 1GB per day, after which the speed were reduced to 40kbps.
BSNL has recently introduced its 'FIFA World Cup Special Data STV 149' to take on Reliance Jio. Talking about the BSNL’s plan, the STV 149 is available across all telecom circles in the country. It offers 4GB 3G mobile data per day during FIFA World Cup ( on till July 15). However, the BSNL’s STV 149 does not include any voice or SMS benefits. On the other hand, Reliance Jio is offering doubled the daily data limit from 1.5GB per day to 3GB for its Rs 149 recharge plan. Also, subscribers are entitled to get free voice, SMS and access to Jio Apps for a period of 28 days. Note that the plan by Reliance Jio is for a limited time and will available till June 30.
