Dave Chapman, Managing Director of Octagon Strategy, was a guest on the Squawk Box television show, aired on CNBC minutes after the arrival of the Bitcoin futures contracts on the Chicago Board Options Exchange. In particular, he referred to a 6-digit price for crypto money by the end of 2018.
The digital asset manager indicated that the increase in the price of Bitcoin, which has already appreciated by more than 1,500% since the beginning of the year, was probably only a start.
He predicts a continuation of this increase in 2018, while the Bitcoin tends to democratize. While a passage beyond the $100,000 seems remote to many observers, this is not the case for Mr. Chapman, who believes that this possibility is possible as early as next year. Here is what he said:
If we have to look ahead, I think we will see a continuation of the rise in 2018, and I won't be surprised if we manage to reach a 6-digit price.
He also indicated that he had declared last August, when the Bitcoin was worth "only" $4,000, that it would reach a 5-digit price by the end of the year.
A few weeks ago, Mike Novogratz, a famous investor, was more cautious in predicting that the price of bitcoin would exceed $40,000 by the end of 2018.
