Why would any serious trader opt into a centralized dollar peg, when they could choose a decentralized dollar peg instead?
Tether has been recently featured in the New York Times, they called into question the dollar peg, and they wonder if it is actually backed by FIAT; one dollar to one Tether.
The risk of a Tether audit or the Securities and Exchange Commission opening an inquiry are not inconsequential. Since Bitshares is decentralized it will never be subject to an audit by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Personally i do believe Tether is legitimate, but if you need a dollar peg why not spread the risk, by purchasing Tether, and BITUSD.
The benefits of a decentralized dollar peg are numerous, and they should not be ignored.
