There has been a lot of buzz in the Steem community recently about Paytomat. For those who missed it, Paytomat – is a payment protocol enabling merchants to accept payments in crypto – which has now integrated the STEEM, the foundational cryptocurrency of the Steem community.
It’s an essential step for the whole Steem network since our economic model is based on rewarding contributors for their merits. Now, you have a chance now to use your rewards to pay for real goods and services.

Paytomat works with local stores and online merchants to accept payments in crypto without banking systems, cards or centralized electronic payment solutions. This system is compatible with most major operating systems and commercially available hardware.
Their solutions include merchant app on Android and iOS, modules for POS systems, e-commerce and Shopping Cart plugins. Paytomat is designed to combine payment infrastructure and user-friendly tools.

The integration of STEEM into the Paytomat merchant network was made possible due to a partnership between BuildTeam and Paytomat, where BuildTeam offered to assist Paytomat in promoting their service through its channels within the Steem community. Negotiations were concluded by BuildTeam CEO and Steem Witness @thecryptodrive, who encourages every Steemian to go out and seek mutually beneficial partnerships for Steem.

Seoul is my favorite place so far. I've been there 3 times already and can't wait to come back. We have a few people working on getting merchants accepting STEEM and other cryptos in Korea so stay tuned. It will be challenging due to price depreciation but we'll figure it out together. @dmitrydao, I had a query as to why Steem wasn't listed in the mobile Paytomat app, I figured out that Steem is only listed on the Merchant platform and not yet on the consumer's personal mobile app, in the meantime people can use the Steem Wallet, I'm interested to know and I'm sure the community is also, whether you will be adding Steem to the Paytomat consumer wallet as well?
I remember meeting 1 of the paytomat employees in Amsterdam, he was RUssian and showed me how Paytomat works, awesome technology! Upvoted and resteemed!

Mass adoption is coming;)
Merchants accepting STEEM will be a huge benefit to STEEM community but will also benefit the merchants. The benefit to merchants is STEEM payments are much more like cash payments than credit card payments. These days a retail or service business who don't take credit card payments cannot survive. Credit card companies take advantage of this by passing onto the merchant risk of payment dispute, credit card fees, and cash-back rewards. This takes a huge cut into merchant profit when profit margins are slim to begin with. In addition, STEEM payments only take 3 seconds and are free. Credit card payments often come with interest and take a full billing cycle (typically monthly) for the merchant to get paid. I feel merchants will have an advantage by taking STEEM payments over credit card.
Yep, excluding intermediaries has a huge advantage:)

This account is @btuniverse which belongs to BuildTeam, we use our earnings to incentivise developers to build Steem apps. The official Paytomat account is @paytomat but I can't speak for their intentions regarding power up, they did say they would re-invest into Steem.
