Memorial of the Romanian anticommunism fighters

in #bucharest7 years ago (edited)

The autumn is already here, and the sun has little courage to show it's powerful face.

Nevertheless, despite the cold evening, I decided to go to the city center, for an evening walk, and to take some pictures of the monuments dedicated to the fight of the Romanian people against the communist regime.

Facing the Regal Palace (in the background), is the statute of Iuliu Maniu, founder of the National Peasants' Party and three times prime-minister of Romania. Arrested by the communism regime, Iuliu Maniu died after 6 years of torture in the Sighet prison, where the Romanian communists decimated the elite of the pre-1947 democratic society.

The 25 meters high marble pillar, is the Memorial of Rebirth, a monument dedicated to the 1500 people that died in the Romanian Revolution.

By the way, do you know that I'm giving out 50 POCKETs to the readers making quality comments on my posts?

Sort:

In Bucharest there are many historical and architectural monuments of great significance for the romanian people. There are people who have changed the course of history. But, unfortunately, the romanians remember only on 1st December to put crowns on monuments.

By the way, what it means pockets?

Man... you are the third that i found tonight... my fellow countryman, hehe.

And it was saturday a real burning sky in the evening at dawn. I took some picture with my phone, because i rarely take my camera on the road lately.

Haven't thought on them because i think they are bad with the phone, but now you made me to look for them.

Maybe we'll grow a community of ours here, who knows.

Cheers

Well...The Revolution started theologically when Pastor Laszlo Tokes spoke about freedom on his reformed congregation. Then the spark became a wildfire, after the government called them "cults," they found themselves unified in diversity, regardless of religion. This how I loved the Romanian Revolution due to the fact because of speaking about freedom connected to God, the godless government was overthrown by Godly people.
