While online recently and in person at the doctors waiting room, I was trying to show off hive blog website feed by payouts, and people just said it looked like a scam or spam, with some "spam" account getting paid. I had to explain those were burn posts but they didnt believe me. To annew user it looks very condusing. Anyway to not post those? Are they really needed? Cant they go into a muted communitynor sonething? Hiveblog condensor front end needs a lot of work. Its like, why is peakd so much better than the old condensor? Shoulent there be i dunno...a hive foundayion to work on the original condenser? Then why isnt peakd just made the official hive front end? Steemi radi5in
See how it looks? I dunno just seems strange and hard to explain to new users
Kinda makes the sort by payouts page useless . I dont wanna have to block or put buildawhale on ny blacklist. Thatd just make things difficult lol i think you could just make a secondary account to post from maybe? Ir just stop those posts?
Isnt there a cleaner way to do this? I tried showing people on X how hive works and the top payouts and they just said it looks like its being spammed. This makes us look weird . Altho i said its jist an example of hive being free speech and lazyfair :)
How can i explain what buoldawhale is anymore? Bidbot markets made sense but how does it even work now?
Who are the handful of users on hive who decide what can and cannot be purchased as an upvoted post on front page? What are their politics? Who are their names and where do they live what country? Whay is their ahenda? Is it all a dark net anonymous network? Thats kinda cool but is that the official marketing story? I wish...but it seems like hive is a little of everything. But at the end of the day its an oligarchy right?
I want to keep my mouth shut and get paid like everyone else but i see an absence of anyone on hive that wants to actually make it a more fair and attractive innovative social media system. With actual innocations in moderation of content via upvite downvotes. Current system is just a might makes right type deal with a lot of the might never being earned. Not even sure if they were ever able to take away ninja mined and other ill gitten steem durong the hive fork. @mughat would say theres no such thing as ninja mining and that all is fair in live and war etc. But to attract the mainstream people wouldnt we wanna get back to work on actual hive communities and smts on layer 1? We still dont even have hive tokens for our communities... just side chain nit even layer 2 steem engine toys that are super centralized and a joke. Not respected by anyone outside hive and barely respected by real hive holders who wouldnt touch them untill they are true layer 1 SMTs ...
Why did all that work stop? Without STINC steemit inc, i see a lack of goals. Maybe thats better to be more realistic about hive and not set unrealistic goals like @ned but a mobile app for steemit never even cane iut but plenty of 3rd oarty ones made by users did
Hive still has no oficial app. Hive keychain is still just the pet project of one witness/whale that we all adipted but its got too many problems. Its nothing like metamask. In fact hive should have made it to netamask by now with a telos style ethereum virtual network. But thatd require too much work.
If hive ever blows up in populqrity like steemit did and we actually get back to 200k active use territory, how are we going to make sure people dont get disenchanted by the downvoting?
People are going to buy hivepower to upvote a friend and then get downvoted and get pissed. Instead we should teach them never to upvote and risk their money like just for the sake of someone elses idea of content moderation. Instead they should delegate all available hivepower to a dlease or tipu style service, get loquid hive daily, and then just TIP loquid hive. Its faster easier and makes more sense. No one cam ever take it awau ebcause they disagree with you liking something
If we do that, hive can become as popular as ever. But we really need ro get our own SMTs tied to communities but we need a system thats more than just subreddit mods with less features. We need ro actually come ip with an INNOVATION in the moderation world... a way to earn your way to becoming a moderator and a systen to allow users ro vote a moderator out etc. And yet no one on hive has ever eveb talked about that ir have they? Please comment below if youve evern hearr anyone talking abiut a serious new way to do CM content moderation better.
It has nothing to do with bid bots, it's about given stake holders an alternative option for their voting power. Just like there is the HBD.Funder account to send funds to the DHF, this removes it from supply.
I removed all tags from the posts, so it will no longer burn tribe tokens. It was done to give tribes an option to burn tokens as well but honestly I don't really give a shit. Not worth the headaches.
I'm not getting paid, it is all burned.
Nevermind i honestly tried to edit this post to make it about something else cuz i chamhed my mind and didnt wanna even bring it up anymore damnit fuck
I saw hive going up after i posted this and tried ro delete but was too late. Tried editing, never saved woops lol
It never went through because i walked away from the wifi.
Hey yeah i was wrong, i should be using peakd anyway
And yeah i know its all burned i just hate having to explain that i dunno, they think it looked weord and i was like caught having to defend it and it got too complicated. The guy in the waiting room was like "ahh mann nahh thats too much" and i was like ah man
They definitely need to do something about the @buildawhale spam. You go on the Sports talk social website and all you see is burn posts. The latest section is the only way you can see any content. Makes sense to why the creator abandoned the project and most of the community is willing to let it die.
I would happily remove sports tag from the posts if their community can’t even keep up with a single burn post a day. I will remove it when I get on a pc, no need to help out if it isn’t even appreciated.
Wow slow down. I am not saying that. I am saying this from an outside perspective. I'm not actively apart of the @sportstalksocial community and am still trying to understand burn posts. What I am saying is on the front page, all I see is burn posts. Which is not good for growth. And we need to do something about that. I have no coding skills. I am just saying what I see and read. Please don't do anything that will destroy the community if it is helping. But please help lessen in some way the amount that show up in treading or front page. I trust that you know what is best for the community, that is why you have my witness vote.
PS There is some that still are trying to keep the community alive, I can pass you names that I saw today in past posts.
I removed the tags, they won't show up again.
Alright. I hope it helps, instead of hurting the community. You are not the only one doing burn posts. I only tagged you because you are a witness that is involved in burn posts and I think there needs to be a discussion on eliminating the spam in trending/front page. From what I have read they are good for inflation but bad if that's all you see. Maybe we need a separate tab for burn posts so they don't end up in trending/front page. And I see a lot of burn posts not follow your example of burning all rewards when posting the same image over and over and sticking to one a day. I have seen accounts post one every 4 hours. I think the burn post abuse is what is destroying the sports community. I didn't mean to offend you, just start a discussion on the burn post problem that I see. If you have any posts or know of any good posts on burn posts that would be greatly appreciated. Have a good one.
there is no need for others to do burn posts, with the comments on each post there is more than enough for anyone to use up all their voting power, any more than that is just bloat.
Isnt that an easu fix for that community or front end?
Not really, it creates a whole new problem.
The accounts that were already doing it have increased there posts and more people have started to make burn posts. We won't truly know the impact for a week or more.
For a bit I was seeing a bit of an increase in price for some. But right now the price is fluctuate, do to high gaps in the buy/asking price. For some the price remains fairly stable do to low gaps in the buy/asking price.
Sports price was not impacted but the burn posts have increased.
Time will tell if it has made things worse or better. But the problem still exists.
Burn posts have been around longer then I have been on the platform. It's just more noticeable now. It was started to reduce inflation but it has created its own type of inflation. So we as a community need to come up with a way to to lessen the impact on our trending/payments. A separate page with a pinned very detailed message explaining how burn post works would help.
