How to get FREE Burstcoin Mining!

in #burstcoin7 years ago

This guide should alleviate some of the common mishaps that can happen while learning about burst.

If you haven't already installed the Burst software and wallet, go download it here,
https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/1686/burstcoin-wallet-v1-2-8-all-platforms
v1.2.8 is the best functioning wallet at this time IMHO.
Also go here,
https://forums.burst-team.us/topic/45/burst-blockchain-ddl-updated-regular-every-24h-zipped/1
and download the block chain.
You will need to unzip the blockchain .DB file and replace the empty .DB file in C:\users/user/appdata/roaming/Burst...

Now start the wallet and setup an account. Pretty self explanatory but if you get stuck just reply below with any questions.
Before we start plotting it is a good idea to restart the PC, especially if your plotting over 200gb. The PC may need to run over night, or for example 3 TB took me about a day and a half , that was at the slow setting (using one CPU core).

the wallet has a plotter, and two different miners you can use (CPU/GPU).
At the very bottom of your open wallet you will see text, the second item from the right side is "Make Plots", open that up, open the scroll box at the top of the new window, choose the drive you want your plots on, and click "Plot this drive".

Now you can open your wallet to full screen and click on your Burst account number "BURST-****-****=****-*****", then click "copy account ID" and paste the number into the appropriate box in the plotter window.
The plotter will make a new file any size you choose on any hard drive you have chosen, you don't need any partitions added in fact I believe mining will run much better without partitions.
Choose the size of plot you want to create and how many cores of your CPU you can live without, and don't forget to check that "run as admin" box and your off!

this plotter makes optimized plots from what I have been told, so you should not need to run an optimizer over them.

Gonna need one burstcoin!

At the top left of your open wallet, in text, you will find "Faucets", if you don't have any burstcoin in your wallet then click there and go get some free coins. Setting up mining will cost you one burstcoin, I know right? |:

Pool or Solo?

Ok if you don't have 70 TB + of Hard drives plotted you need a pool, in fact some miners with well over 200 TB say they make more in pools than solo.

The right pool for your miner...

I hopped from pool to pool like a little French whore when I started mining burst and IMHO, If your miner has under 50TB of plotted hdds then Tross pool " http://burstpool.ddns.net/ " is the absolute best place to start out if your in or near America, and if you are in or near the UK you might want to check out Lexicon's pool "http://burst.lexitoshi.uk/", both good pools, and I'm honestly not sure geographic location matters that much!

Set up your miner!

If your an old hand and you are going to use the CPU miner (Blago), you might want to go to the Burst folder and make a shortcut for the miner and place it somewhere handy, otherwise if you run the miner directly from the wallet you will loose any special settings you have made! If you manually configure the miner and run into any problems just post the issue and I will help you out...

With the wallet open, bottom just right of the center you will see in text "Start Mining", open that up! make sure your plots show up in the "Found Plots" box.
Find your pool in the scroll box to the right, for the Tross pool you will need to manually change the port number to 8124.
To your left, click the "Change" button (this will automatically copy the pools Burst wallet account number. Paste the number in the open box at the very bottom left of the new window that appears " Recipient - Burst address of pool:"
paste your Wallet passphrase in the box above it, and click submit!

It takes 4 rounds, or four mined blocks, or pproximately 16 minutes give or take, for the pool to setup your account.
If you begin mining to early you might see an error message, no need for concern unless the error does not go away.

To begin mining,

Click "start mining" at the bottom right of center in your wallet and either choose the CPU miner or go to the GPU miner file folder "Snapshot..." in your burst folder, setup the .conf file and your ready to GPU mine Burstcoin, :)
Good luck everyone!
