Customers don't miraculously appear out of nowhere.
They must be alerted and enticed to find out more about what we are offering. Our offering must be something that they care about and that they believe will be of benefit to them.
Once we have figured out our messaging in such a way that accurately conveys this to our potential customers then we need to go about getting the message out there.
A useful exercise is to put ourselves in our customers shoes and ask if we would be interested in purchasing the product or service based on the message that we hear. If not, why not? then make adjustments to the message if necessary.
We must use creative ways to get our business message out there and grab customers attention.
Here are some methods:
Provide information - use blogs, videos, newsletters, print media and shows.
Align with social causes - e.g. sporting events if relevant.
allow customers to experience the product - free samples or discount coupons.
Instill confidence - customer reviews, industry awards, quality assurances.
Convenience and time saving - e.g. search engine optimization can help users find your business.
Partner - with non-competing businesses that operate in your market.
