Acceptance for cannabis has continued to grow over the past several years throughout the US and marijuana is now legalized in various states for either medicinal and recreational purposes.
Along with the increased acceptance for cannabis we have seen a rise in cannabis-related commerce and there have been many creative services coming to market such as cannabis-related vacation packages, hotel stays, dinner services, and more.
One area that has been seeing an increase in business is the demand for weed-themed wedding celebrations.
Since cannabis has been legalized in Colorado for some time now, there are already businesses there that have been established just to meet the growing weed-demand in the wedding industry. People are looking for ways that they can incorporate using cannabis into their reception, flower arrangements, party favors, and more.
They've even got a Cannabis Wedding Expo that features different cannabis vendors selling things like hemp suits and hemp wedding dresses.
When it comes to choosing cannabis for the wedding celebration, there are many reasons why the bride or groom might be interested in doing it.
It's Cheaper Than Booze
Serving guests cannabis at the wedding, instead of serving them the option of an open bar, is often going to be a cheaper option to go with. Those who serve the cannabis-wedding market also insist that with a cannabis open bar that you are going to get more value for your dollar, than had you gone with serving the alcohol.
It's estimated that for a 100 person wedding that a bud bar would cost around $300 minimum for roughly 2 hours and then be $100 per hour thereafter.
There is also the option to have the bar come with budtenders (seen above) who will be tasked with rolling the joints etc for the guests. Guests will need to be careful about tipping those budtenders though, because there are rules in place to prevent such a voluntary exchange; the state prohibits any tipping to budtenders in Colorado.
The Bud Bar doesn't have to be just joints either, it can be vaporizers, bongs, and other pipes etc. Aside from smoking cannabis, there is also the option for hosts to go with cannabis cocktails and other edibles.
Less Drama
When drinking heavily at a social event like a wedding, sometimes bad things are bound to happen. But with cannabis, it's a lot less likely that people are going to make a fool out of themselves or do something to negatively impact the event. It's also suggested that alcohol can take away from events when people choose to over-consume, but with cannabis there isn't that sort of threat.
Compliment Not Replace
Industry experts insist that the cannabis bars aren't going to take over the position of alcohol within wedding celebrations anytime soon.
For now, the cannabis bars are more of a supplement and they offer couples just one more creative option to incorporate into their wedding festivities. Not only that, but for many couples who cannot afford to fund a night of drinking for their wedding guests, a cannabis bar might be the next best cost-effective option.

Last month they break the ground and they gonna start with the construction of a greenhouse for growing cannabis near Edmonton international airport. It'll be big as six football stadiums and will have 500 employees.
Sounds like more economic activity than the Oilers generate
Oilers and oil industry, right now. There is a lot of money and investors looking for places to invest. They'll come to crypto, don't worry. Buy and hodl, my friend.
You know employee attendance will be.....

"It's estimated that for a 100 person wedding that a bud bar would cost around $300 minimum for roughly 2 hours and then be $100 per hour thereafter."
Compare that with liquor and I bet there is a massive savings. Also liquor has lead to some rather unsavory things.. lol.
Great to see the industry expanding in so many directions. Who knows how this market could really evolve if government would get completely out of the way.
Cannabis is a much better choice than alcohol. I would always choose cannabis over alcohol if it was legal in my country.
Pot at weddings? Another new idea that sounds like a winner. I like the observation that with alcohol tempers flare. With Pot folks will stay more mellow...and be craving more of those muchies too. I think we are moving ahead into a saner world, at least in some respects.
That's super interesting. I wonder what the legality of selling your services as a bud bar would be in what is effectively a hospitality environment. Homebrew clubs get away with selling memberships and the sharing beers in a similar way.

I'm getting married soon, someone hook me up with a vendor!
Fascinating!!
I know there is @potcoin and the like, I wonder if there is a way we could get the word out about crypto to these local stores. I live in Oregon where it has been legalized for a while now, I bet using coins would explode here. The wedding ideas are so good too, wish I had a budtender at my wedding!
I read the title, and I thought this was going to be a post about how to keep one of the wedding couple from ditching the other at the alter.
Smoke that corsage?
The greens would be thrilled, reduce, reuse, recycle
I was at a cannabis themed wedding last September in Oregon. I thought it was a great idea but felt the venue (a b&b) was very uptight about "smoking areas" and the cannabis themed floral arraignments were very lackluster. I had contributed over 2500 beautiful juicy fan leaves for decoration but the florist was not comfortable working with that much cannabis. They went mostly unused. I hope to see more acceptance from traditional wedding vendors.
I want to thank you for supporting me with cbd, I look forward to your posts and hope you take notice of mine. Sorry fruedian slip, sbd.

As much as i love weed, weddings are for booze and crazy good times. You can have good times on weed but crazy good times only happens with booze
Cannabis is a budding industry. I haven't seen this in California, but can imagine it'll be a niche industry here soon.
Waiting for my wedding invite
Haha, that's awesome. :) I had no idea there was a connection there.. But I guess it's not surprising!

Excellent post @doitvoluntarily!
If it were up to me, all weddings would include cannabis festivities. 😊
Also if you're getting good quality dankness, I could see much higher prices for a bud bar than $300.
I can honestly say as a bartender I would rather deal with 10 people on weed than 1 belligerent drunk!
