Retail Apocalypse is upon us, Who will survive?!

in #business7 years ago

The retail apocalypse, what exactly is it and how will affect me? There are many directions the apocalypse can take but it is not a mystery it has began. JCPenny, Toys r us, Sears, Guitar Center, Gibson, GNC, Payless are taking large hits some are already out of business. Times are changing as the internet becomes more adapted to normal life shopping and receiving information have changed dramatically. I can now order an item from amazon and have it delivered in two hours. Its hard to say no and drive 20 minutes to shop at a brick and mortar store. But how will it affect normal Americans of course if you work for one of these companies your going to get laid off. Jobs your going to see become extinct in the coming decades are cashiers, taxi drivers, truck drivers, telemarketers just a few for example. However as one door closes others open tech companies have seen their stock soar over the past five years. People who work those jobs should consider opening their mind to new things. Otherwise you will be aboard a ship sinking to the bottom of the ocean.

However for those who adapt or any entrepreneur there are now going to be niche gaps of items that are not going to be filled by huge corporations. Opening door for people to sell these items on etsy, amazon, ebay, their own site. The money is still there and being spent it just has shifted. If you learn how to advertise and use targeting techniques provided by social media. You are among the first of a new era and will grow exponentially as the future assembles itself.

Thanks for taking the time to read!
