Welcome to the first chapter of this blog for entrepreneurs! I hope you read my first post in which I stipulated the general system for starting/creating/developing your own ideas into a business. In this first chapter I will start with explaining the contents that will be covered in the Business Philosophy part of the building blocks. This is the first step necessary for the conceptualization of your little idea/hunch into something tangible.

There are a couple of important steps you should take in order to get a grip on your idea. First things first, you need to bash your own idea as much as you can to get rid of all the nonsense and let the actual good, valuable parts separate itself. Define the real valuable part of your idea that you can work with and start building with that as your basis.
How we will tackle this process is by covering every important element I can think of that is deemed necessary for developing your idea into a business.

Some of the elements that will be covered are:

  • Defining your problem and solution
  • Defining Mission, Vision, Goals and Aims
  • The Business model canvas
  • Pitching your idea/business

As this system is a work in progress (most of the basic elements and concepts for conceptualizing a business are there) some elements can be added at later times. However, the basic crucial elements are present and will be further discussed and explained.

If you want to follow this blog and read the posts step by step, please do so. I can give you a bit of homework as well.

So, lets talk about how to begin this endeavor. If you are someone that wants to have a creative idea, but can't think of anything, there are a couple simple tips I can give you.

Tip 1: Think about everyday things that annoy you. This can be anything. Perhaps you have a job in whatever sector and you notice that some things could be done differently and you might even know a way how to do that. Bam! there is a possible idea worth developing. Maybe ordinary daily things like going to the supermarket, having to manage your household waste, or you go to a theme park on a free day. You can spot things that could annoy you and you might think, why does no one do anything about it? Well, this is actually a basic principle of how new creative ideas get formed. Something annoys the hell out of you, let's do something about it!

Tip 2: This is a very simple and straightforward tip. Talk to people around you! This can be applied also in any circumstance. Perhaps your family or friends have something interesting to say (or something that annoys them). Even better would be to surround yourself with other creative people and let yourself be inspired, heck! Maybe out of a simple conversation, sharing thoughts, an idea could spring up. We are social animals and we thrive on interaction with each other. Only the rarest kind of person has a creative mind that can think of something out of thin air, the rest of us have to do with sharing our thoughts with other people.

If you already have a relatively well-formed idea, tip 2 also works like magic. Find ways to undermine your own idea by being very critical and of course let other people criticize your idea as well. Others might even shed a different light on your idea or a different perspective you could not even have imagined. By doing this you will adapt and strengthen the idea or, which is also possible, scrap your idea and throw it in the bin. Because remember! A bad idea is not worth your time and effort!

So, be critical, share and let yourself be inspired. This is the starting point where a little seed gets planted and will eventually grow into a beautiful plant!
