Teuku Markam has donated gold to Monas in Jakarta

All citizens of Indonesia would know if the peak of the National Monument Monument (Monas) Jakarta coated with gold weighing 38 kg. But do you know if 28 Kg of them donated by merchants from Aceh?
The merchant is Teuku Markam. He is a native born son of Alue Caplie Village, Seunudon Sub-district, North Aceh, Aceh, born in 1925.
His hometown is about 30 km from the capital of the district capital of Lhoksukon. In the village, he was born, experienced a childhood and adulthood, a business up and down to donate his gold to be placed at the top of Monas during the time of President Sukarno.

Formerly, Markam had a company in Aceh namely PT Karkam, where the community called PT Markam. Then he went to Jakarta close to President Soekarno and became a wealthy merchant to donate gold for the construction of Monas.
Another story, Markam had followed the military service and joined the Indonesian People's Army (TRI). He served in North Sumatra and served as General Gatot Soebroto's adjutant to know President Soekarno.
Markam was imprisoned during the New Order in 1966 with various accusations and was free in 1974. In 1985, Markam died from the illness he suffered in Jakarta.
