Gary Kirsten, who had arrived in Dhaka on Sunday to work for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as a consultant, has already got down to business.

Kirsten sat with selectors Minhazul Abedin and Habibul Bashar and players Sabbir Rahman and Soumya Sarkar at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on Tuesday morning.

The former South Africa batsman, who led India to a World Cup win, also held a 30-minute meeting with Mohammad Salahuddin, a former assitant coach of the national team.

A number of players in the national fold, including all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, look up to him as their mentor.

"It was good to speak to him," Salahuddin told newsmen following the meeting. "He asked me about Bangladesh's cricket and the players. He also enquired about me," he added.

Kirsten has been tasked by the BCB to help the board find a new coach. He is also doing an internal audit of the team, keeping the future ICC events in mind.
